
TAFT, CA – Taft College Baseball Cougars played on February 22, for Game 3 against Coalinga College.
Ryden Walker started on the mound for Taft. Coalinga took the lead early scoring 2 unearned runs in the first. The Cougars answered back in the third when Rhett Hodgins singles, scoring Ty Moore to make it a 1 run ball game. Coalinga would respond with 1 run in the 5th making it 3-1.
The Cougars bats woke up in the 7th inning scoring 5 runs off of 3 hits getting a tremendous lead.
The Cougars would go on to win 8-3 which was led by the offense by Isaac Pinedo going 4 for 5 with a triple. Aiden Otano also had a day at the plate getting 2 hits and 2 RBI's with a triple. The pitching staff was solid for the Cougars, Ryden Walker went 5 innings allowing 4 hits and only 1 earned run. Sho Saegusa, Sebastian Montoya, Chase Phillips all came out in relief not allowing a single run to score.
The Taft College Cougars head into next week for a three-game series against Porterville College. Game 1 will be on February 25th.
