Panthers Dominate Southwestern College
Following a tough 3-4 walk-off loss to the Citrus Owls on Wednesday, the Chaffey College softball team dominated in a weekend doubleheader against Southwestern College. The Panthers roared back with two decisive mercy-rule wins, defeating the Jaguars 11-3 and 10-1.

Following a tough 3-4 walk-off loss to the Citrus Owls on Wednesday, the Chaffey College softball team dominated in a weekend doubleheader against Southwestern College. The Panthers roared back with two decisive mercy-rule wins, defeating the Jaguars 11-3 and 10-1.
In the first game, sophomore pitcher Tori Morton delivered a complete-game securing her sixth win of the season. Morton limited the Jaguars to just one earned run while striking out eight batters. The win also etches her name into Chaffey College softball history by becoming only the sixth player to reach the 100 career strikeout milestone.
Sophomore Vivian Medinilla, fresh off her CCCAA State Player of the Week honors, had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. Medinilla also included three runs scored, three RBIs, and her 11th double of the season.
Freshman Riley Montion also delivered, going 3-for-4 with a home run. Montion added two stolen bases, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Samantha Vazquez chipped in with a solid 2-for-4 effort, including a double and two runs scored.
In the second game, the Panthers continued their attack, grabbing a decisive 10-1 victory that was called early due to the mercy-run rule. Sophomore pitcher Amanda Serra, a Baldwin Park High School alumna, also delivered a complete-game, scattering five hits and earning her third win of the year.
Riley Montion carried her momentum into the second game, going 3-for-4, scoring two runs, and driving in two RBIs. Freshman catcher Rosyvette Garcia Pacheco was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Megan Aranda added three RBIs and a double.
The Panthers even their record at 10-10, and will now start conference play by taking on Victor Valley College on Wednesday, March 12. First pitch is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
