Hawks Earn Revenge Over Lasers in Dominant Fashion
After falling to the Irvine Valley College Lasers earlier in the season, the No. 10 Santiago Canyon College men's basketball team returned to home court on Friday night with a vengeance in their final Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown. The Hawks came out firing, quickly building a double-digit lead and never looking back, cruising to a dominant 90-57 win.
Four players scored in double figures, led by sophomore Tony Colley, who posted a game-high 18 points, including four three-pointers on 50 percent shooting from the floor. Colley currently ranks fifth in the conference in scoring and has reached double digits in four of the last five games.
Freshman EJ Bryson added 11 points, extending his double-digit scoring streak to 10 straight games. Bryson was just two assists shy of a double-double, while also contributing four rebounds and a steal. Freshman Colin Weems chipped in 10 points, and sophomore Eli Arthurton provided 11 points in a supporting role.
The Hawks controlled the boards, with freshman Connor McKee grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with six points and three assists. Freshman Selim Semaan provided a spark off the bench, scoring eight points, while freshman Efe Gucoglu finished with seven points.
As a team, the Hawks shot an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc, contributing to a 58.6 percent overall shooting performance. They dominated the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Lasers 43-27, and forced 10 turnovers throughout the game.
