Baseball goes 1-2 against Santa Barbara to open WSC North conference play.
The Moorpark College Baseball team opened WSC North conference taking on Santa Barbara for their 3 game weekly series and the Raiders went 1-2 against the Vaqueros. The Raiders opened the week taking game one, 3-1. Santa Barbara evened the series taking game two at Santa Barbara, 9-1. In the rubber game hosted by the Raiders, The Raider pitching allowed 8 runs in the first two innings and played catch up the rest of the falling, 15-7.
Moses Hyde was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Max Fernandez went 2 for 4 and a RBI. Sophomore ace Valor Castroll got the win pitching 6 innings scattering 3 hits, allowed a run and got 5Ks. Jadon Paez got the save.
Game 2, the Raider bats were silenced and only managed a hit and scored in the top of the 9th using a walk, HBP and a sac fly.
The Vaqueros jumped on starter Caelan Eisenstein as he allowed 5 runs on 5 hits to start game 3. The Raiders responded with three runs in the bottom of the 1st. With two on, Nate Kaczynski tripled and Nate Lajoie singled to score Kaczynski, 6-3 SB after one.
The Raiders pitching woes continued as Vaquero lead grew to 12-4 after 4 innings.The Raiders would add a run in the 3rd, 8th and 2 in the 9th.
The Raiders are now 2-8 on the year, 1-2 in WSC North. They will take on Ventura this week with Pirates hosting Tuesday' game.
