Owls Win Big at RCC Tournament

Citrus College picked up two wins Saturday at the RCC Tournament. The Owls opened with a 16-4 win over Golden West and grabbed a 14-5 victory over LA Valley to cap the day.

Ten Owls scored in the first game, led by Gabriella Terry's four goals. Amelia Wolfe contributed three goals and Averi Bishop scored twice. Sey Currie, Amanda Herrera, Annabell Caldera, Gabby Orozco, Sophia Leon, Teghan Miller each added a goal.

Six different Owls scored in the nightcap, led by Terry's four goals. Miller followed with two goals, while Mia Meldrum, Amanda Herrera, Alyssa Woody, and Gabby Orozco each had one goal.

Golden West broke through in the second, but Miller rattled in a goal and Wolfe capitalized twice to up Citrus' lead to 12-1.

The Owls slowed their offense a little, only getting four more goals in before the final whistle blew, but it was enough for the 16-4 victory.

Citrus opened the second game with five consecutive goals to jump out in front. Miller got the run going with a goal less than two minutes into the first period off an assist from Woody.

The Owls held a 6-1 lead after the first and followed with five goals in the second to increase threaten a double-digit lead, 11-2.

Orozco scored the first goal of the second with Herrera rattling in a goal just seconds before halftime.

The Monarchs won the third with only one goal in the period, but Citrus picked back up its offense in the fourth.

Citrus scored four goals in the final period to seal the 15-5 victory.

The Owls improve to 4-3 on the year with the pair of wins as they take a week off before returning to action on Oct. 1 at the Cerritos Mini.
