Softball falls at Bakersfield before dropping WSC North opener to Cuesta.
The Raider Softball team fell at Bakersfield, 9-1 before dropping their WSC North opener to host Cuesta, 8-5. The Raiders are now 7-7 on the year and 0-1 in WSC North.
The defending WSC North champions opened the scoring at Cuesta. Leah Cowans doubled and the next Raider batter, Kylie Kolkowski's RBI double gave the Raiders the early lead.
But Cuesta would add 2 in the 2nd and one in the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead going into the 4th. The Raiders would add another run as Kailey Greene singled home Cowans. The Cougars with responded with 3 runs in their half of the inning to take a 6-2 lead after 5.
The Raiders were able to push 2 across in the 6th to cut Cuesta's lead to 6-4, but the Cougars responded with 2 more in their half of the 6th. Kolkowski led the 7th with a homerun but the next three Raider batter were put out.
The Raiders come home to host Santa Monica on Teuesday, 3/11, 2:30p and Oxnard, Thursday, 3/13. They will hit the road again for a double header at Chaffey on Friday, 3/14.
