Cuesta Softball has endured a schedule scattered by inclement weather this season and last week was one of the worst. The Cougars opened the week with a Western State Conference win at Oxnard, 3-1, but had the rest of the week rained out. Cuesta's win over the Condors improved their WSC record to 2-0, while bumping them back over .500 for the season, 8-7. The Cougars and Condors were tied at 1-all in the 6th inning, when Cuesta's all-WSC Shortstop Danya Boyd tripled in Addison Finegan for deciding run. One batter latter, Catcher Brielle Burt doubled in Boyd for an insurance run, while Reliever Sienna Lowry set down six of the next seven Condors for the victory.
The Cougars game against local rival Allan Hancock, scheduled for last Tuesday, has now been postponed twice. The game was moved from last Tuesday to the next Monday and has now been re-rescheduled for this Wednesday (2:30), March 19. Cuesta non-conference doubleheader against Bakersfield, which was reset for last Saturday, was also rained out for a second time. The Cougars and Renegades have not confirmed a new date, at press time. If the weather cooperates, Cuesta, without further make-up games, is already slated for five games over the next four days. The Cougars shall host Ventura for a Western State Conference contest on Tuesday (2:30) and travel to Santa Barbara on Thursday (2:30), while the squad is also scheduled to play a doubleheader in Reedley on Saturday (12/2 PM).
