Owls Can't Hold Off Cougars in Series Finale

Citrus College Baseball suffered a 10-4 road defeat to College of the Canyons last Saturday, March 15th in the series finale with the Cougars. 

Citrus College goes to 8-13 overall and 3-3 in conference games, while College of the Canyons moves to 7-13 overall and 3-3 in conference. 

The Owls scored the first run of the game to go up 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, a Danyal Jenkins RBI-sacrifice fly to score Derek Leader. 

The Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead over the Owls. 

Citrus tied it up at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning after Derek Leader and Isaac Nava each hit RBI-sacrifice flies. 

In the bottom of the sixth inning Canyons scored four runs to go ahead 7-3. The Owls added one more run in the top of the eighth inning, a Danyal Jenkins RBI-single, but the Cougars responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs to make the score 10-4. 

Nathan Hellein led the Owls going 3-for-5 with one run scored. Isaac Nava went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Jordan Quintero went 2-for-4 and drew one walk. Danyal Jenkins went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Derek Leader went 1-for-3 with one RBI, one run scored and one walk. 

Citrus College will begin a two-game series with Mt. San Antonio College, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 18th at Mt.SAC at 5 p.m.
