Irvine Valley's women's basketball team improved its record to 3-2 overall and bounced back after a tough loss to Taft in its previous game with a 66-32 win over El Camino at home on Friday night.
IVC got off to a slow start in Friday's game and led jut, 11-9, after the first quarter.
The Lasers picked it up the rest of the way. Irvine Valley out-scored the Warriors, 22-9, in the second quarter to lead, 33-18, at the half.
IVC limited El Camino to just 14 points in the second half for the 34-point victory.
Irvine Valley shot 43.3 percent (26 of 60) to El Camino's 18.8 percent (9 of 48).
The Lasers also out-rebounded El Camino, 52-29, on the night.
Three IVC players scored in double figures. Sophomore point guard Haruka Mikuma led with 14 points and added six assists and five steals.
Sophomore guard Moka Saiki added 13 points, five rebounds, eight assists and two steals and freshman forward Gianna DeForest finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
Freshman guard Samantha Bennett and sophomore forward Neryah Lokeni each contributed eight points with Bennett finishing with a team-high 12 rebounds and three blocks and Lokeni adding seven rebounds.
Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday at Rio Hondo.
