PCC Hosts 3C2A State Women's Badminton Championship Tournament May 9-11

Pasadena City College is the host for this week's 3C2A State Women's Badminton Championships on May 9-11, beginning with the team championship final that will have the South Coast Conference champion Lancers face Coast Conference champion City College of San Francisco on Thursday, May 9 at 5 p.m. at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

The individual singles and doubles competition takes place Friday and Saturday, May 10-11. Matches begin at 12 noon on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.

This will be the Lancers seventh championship final, having won back-to-back state titles in 2017 and 2018. PCC lost to CCSF in a dramatic 11-10 final in 2010 also at Pasadena.

PCC, directed by head coach Jen Ho, and San Francisco carry perfect 12-0 overall records.

The Lancers are led by the duo of Rhea Zou and Anh Vu Nguyen Tran, who captured the conference doubles crown at the SCC Individual Tournament held April 26 at San Diego City College.

Other top players for the individuals are San Diego Mesa's Mylene Keophaseut, who won the South Coast singles title and is the top seed from the South, and San Francisco's Kelly Yau Barria, the Coast singles champ and top North seed as well as part of the Rams' doubles champion pair with partner Jacqueline Leong.
