Owls Fall to No. 8 Ranked RCC

Citrus College Baseball hosted No. 8 ranked Riverside City College today, falling 3-2. 

Citrus College moves to 5-10 overall on the season, while Riverside City College goes to 12-4 on the year. 

The Tigers put up one run in the top of the third inning to go up 1-0 before Dustin Yela responded with an RBI double in the bottom of the third inning to drive in Danyal Jenkins, tying the game at 1-1. 

Adrian Sanchez put the Owls up 2-1 with a fielder's choice RBI, scoring Jordan Quintero, in the bottom of the fourth inning which ended up being the Owls final run scored. 

In the top of the seventh inning RCC added two runs to go up 3-2 and minimized the Owls efforts in the final three innings to secure the win. 

Jordan Quintero led Citrus, going 2-for-3 with one run scored. Danyal Jenkins went 2-fo-4 with one run scored and one stolen base, while Dustin Yela went 1-for-2 with one RBI. 

Matthew Martinez struck out one batter through two innings, Isaac Gonzales struck out two batters through three innings pitched and Reece Harney pitched two no-hit innings while striking out three batters. 

Citrus College will begin conference play as they host Bakersfield College next Tuesday, March 4th at 2 p.m.
