Cuesta Poloists Split on Day 2 of the Cuesta Classic

Men's Water Polo came into the second day of the Cuesta Classic to pick up some wins, after to both #5 Orange Coast and #2 Golden West on the openning day.  The Cougars did open the day with a victory over American River, 14-13, but dropped the tournament finale against #6 Orange Coast, 12-9.  Cuesta's three losses in front of their home faithful dropped their over record to 7-5 and, most likely, will drop them from the #3-spot in the CCCAA State Rankings.  Freshman Driver Johnny Starr did his best to power the Cougars' offense and scored seven goals on the day, while returning All American Goaltender Yvano Voigt (pict) kept the Cougars close with 23 saves in the nets.

This is the third straight week the Cougars have played in a tournament and they shall enjoy a bye next week as they prepare for Western State Conference play.  The Cougars next contest is scheduled is their WSC Opener at Ventura on October 9 (2 PM).  Cuesta is the defending WSC Champion and has won 31 conference titles since 1979, including last year in Coach Greg Enloe's first season at the helm.
