
Softball Opens WSC Action with Win at SBCC, 13-7
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team topped Santa Barbara City College in the Western State Conference (North) opener at Pershing Park on Monday afternoon. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs (3-5, 2-0) wasted no time, jumping to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and adding two more in the second. After being held scoreless in the third and fourth, they erupted for three runs in the fifth and sealed the game with a four-run seventh. AHC's offense collected 15 hits, including two doubles, and stole four bases. The hosting Vaqueros (1-5, 0-1) showed fight, cutting into Hancock's lead with two runs in the second, one in the third, and a four-run sixth inning, but couldn't keep pace down the stretch.
Kaylee Dolores led the charge from the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with four runs scored, one RBI, a double, and two stolen bases. Tori Salazar also had a standout day and matched the 3-for-4 effort with two RBIs, a double, and three runs scored. Riley Vannasap drove in 3 runs, going 2-for-4, while Khalelii Roberston-Mack brought home two.
On the mound, Havanah Michel went the distance by pitching a complete game despite allowing 11 hits and 7 runs (6 earned). Michel struck out four and walked three over the full 7.0 innings of work, throwing 122 pitches.
The Bulldogs were scheduled to resume league action this afternoon but received a forfeit victory over LA Pierce College due to low roster numbers of the Brahmas. Hancock will now turn their sights to the Cuesta College matchup that is scheduled for Thursday, March 13th, in San Luis Obispo.
