The Cerritos College baseball team received a pair of two-run home runs to help lead them to a 6-0 South Coast Conference win over host Pasadena City College on Saturday. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Falcons (17-2, 6-0), who have now swept their first two conference series. The team is slated to start a three-game set with crosstown rival Long Beach City College on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Kincaid Field.

Leading, 1-0 heading into the top of the fifth inning, sophomore Evan Saito (Torrance HS) singled, which set the table for freshman designated Brody Cuellar (Bishop Montgomery HS), who launched an opposite field home run and gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore All-American pitcher Derek Valdez (Los Alamitos HS) improved to 7-0 on the season after eight-plus innings. He limited the Lancers to six hits through the first eight innings, but surrendered two hits and a walk to open the ninth inning. His shutout was salvaged when freshman AJ Gonzalez (Gahr HS) recorded three straight outs to close out the game.

Heading into the top of the ninth inning, the Falcons were able to double their lead with three runs. After freshman shortstop Fabian Ochoa (Warren HS) drew a one-out walk, freshman outfielder Owen Martin (Narbonne HS) hit his team-leading fifth home run to make it a 5-0 lead. Sophomore outfielder Diego Orozco (Long Beach Wilson HS) followed with a single, stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He came home to score on a throwing error.
