Leschak Hits 2 Home Runs To Lead Cañada To Victory
Freshman 1B Cole Leschak hit two home runs and drove in two as Cañada defeated Ohlone College 7-2 on Tuesday at Colt Field.
A single by Fr. LF Caden Cuccia put Cañada on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Colts jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning after Ohlone committed an error, and So. 3B Jacob Brewer doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
In the 4th inning So. DH Dominic Avila doubled to right center field to score a run bringing the score to 4-1.
Two more Cañada runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 6-1. Leschak hit a solo home run to right field, and Brewer singled, scoring one run.
The final Colts run came in the 8th when Leschak hit a solo HR over the left field wall.
The Colts' pitching was dominant beginning with Freshman RHP Ryan Rocha who earned the win for Cañada. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one earned run over 5 innings, striking out five and walking one. Lefty Victor Angulo came in to relieve Rocha in the 6th. In three innings pitched the freshman allowed one hit and no earned runs. Mateo Rojas, the Cañada closer, pitched one inning of scoreless ball. The RHP allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none.
Cañada amassed nine hits in the game led by Leschak and Brewer who each collected two hits. Sophomore CF Carson Vance stole two bases.
