LOS ANGELES — Savannah Cervantes and Shelby White have been tabbed the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) Players of the Week after leading their squads to big wins last week.
Cervantes earns 3CFCA Player of the Week honors after leading Antelope Valley to a 4-1 week, including a 9-1 six-inning win over No. 14 Canyons. Against the Cougars, Cervantes put together her most impressive performance of the week, going 3-3 with three RBIs, a walk, and a run. She got the Marauders' offense rolling in the first inning when she hit a two-run home run to give her squad the opening 2-0 lead. She extended the lead to 5-1 in the fourth when she singled in Victoria Alcantar. Cervantes also added a double in the win.
She also batted in multiple runs in wins over LA Valley and Santa Barbara. Antelope Valley's only loss of the week came to No. 18 LA Mission. Cervantes finished the week with eight RBIs, seven hits, four runs, three home runs, three doubles, four walks, and a .583 batting average.
White guided No. 12 West Valley to three wins last week, highlighted by a 7-0 win over No. 6 San Mateo to earn 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week honors. Against the Bulldogs, she recorded a complete-game shutout scattering just four singles with a strikeout to give the Vikings their signature win of the season. White opened the week with a complete game win over Feather River, allowing just one earned run in the outing.
She followed that performance by stepping into the circle at San Jose with her squad up 2-1 in the fifth inning. She struck out a pair of batters and held the Jaguars scoreless the rest of the way to earn the save. White finished the week with two complete game wins, 1 save, a 0.41 ERA, six strikeouts, and just two walks.
