Mt. SAC rallies in third to beat San Jose City
The Mounties took down the Jaguars 6-1 in their tournament opener.
BAKERSFIELD - The top seed from Southern California, the Mt. San Antonio College Mounties, plated six runs in the third inning and that was all they needed to beat the Northern California #4 seed San Jose City College 6-1 in game three of the 2022 CCCAA Softball Tournament.
Grace Pieson led the Mounties in the circle pitching four and a third innings striking out seven while allowing no earned runs to pick up her 24th win of the season.

After Ashley Diaz led off the bottom of the third with a single and stole second to get into scoring position, Ariana Coronado hit a shot just inside the right-field line to send Diaz home to tie the game 1-1.
From there, the Mounties added three more hits and took advantage of six Jaguars' errors to score five more runs. Schutt Sports/NFCA Cal JC Player of the Year Brianna Goris doubled to center during the stretch to bring in Asia Chacon. Two batters later Annemarie Gutierrez added an RBI single to center that scored Desiree Bravo to put the score at 6-1. Six different Mounties recorded a hit in the win.
The Jaguars scored their lone run of the day in the top of the third when Maddy Ribeiro reached on an error that allowed Kiya Sandoval to reach home.
