Chargers Fall to Rustlers

CYPRESS, CA- Women's water polo (6-9, 0-3 OEC) loses to the Golden West Rustlers (10-4, 1-2 OEC), 17-5.

The Chargers hosted Golden West College on Wednesday afternoon after the men's game. The Rustlers got off to a dominate start with five goals in a row before the Chargers completed their first make of the match.

In the second quarter, Brooke Shiohama and Hayley Bradshaw scored back-to-back goals to cut the Chargers deficit to half, 6-3. Even though the Chargers team defense held the Rustlers to three goals before the end of the half, the Rustlers led the game 9-3. 

The Rustlers continued their momentum in the second half as they held the Chargers to a scoreless quarter, 13-3. Cypress was unable to catch up in the final quarter, and the Rustlers took the victory with a final score of 17-5.

Brooke Shiohama led the Chargers with two made goals, Jezebell Cervantes with two steals, and Megan Lundquist had five saves in the net.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will host district rivals Fullerton College on Wednesday, October 11th. The match will begin at 4:15pm.
