Cats secure best finish ever

The Saddleback women's water polo team defeated Golden West College, 13-8, on Wednesday in Huntington Beach.  With the win, the Bobcats finish in second place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) for the first time ever.

Saddleback started slowly when they fell behind 5-3 at the half, thus putting any plans of a celebration on hold.  The Bobcats then cranked up the offense in the second half to race past the Rustlers, securing the best finish in the OEC standings in program history.

Katherine Butler led the charge, leading the Bobcats with four goals for the game.  Butler scored all of her goals in the second half of the game as Saddleback outscored Golden West 10-3 over the final 16 minutes of play.

Saddleback's win put them at 15-7 overall and 4-1 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats had never finished higher than third in conference play previous to 2023. 

Saddleback will compete in the Long Beach City College Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
