Four Knights Earn All-PCAC and Qualify For State Championship
The Knights had a good showing at the PCAC singles and doubles championships this week with four earning all-PCAC honors, including Sinaia Haskal, Faith Satrya, Lucia Farmer, and Charlee FitzMaurice. All four Knights also qualified for the state singles and doubles championships, which will be held in Ventura and Ojai from April 27-30.
The Knights had a good showing at the PCAC singles and doubles championships this week with four earning all-PCAC honors, including Sinaia Haskal, Faith Satrya, Lucia Farmer, and Charlee FitzMaurice. All four Knights also qualified for the state singles and doubles championships, which will be held in Ventura and Ojai from April 27-30.
Haskal, City's No. 1 on the ladder, advanced all the way to the PCAC singles championship match by winning her first three matches, including a three-set victory over teammate Farmer in the semifinals. Unfortunately for Haskal, she fell in the title match to Grossmont's Katherine Frayre Busani.
Haskal also made it to the doubles championship match along with No. 1 doubles partner Satrya after winning their first two matches, but lost to Grossmont's Amy Linquist and Busani in the final.
After a first round bye, Farmer won two singles matches in straight sets to make it to the semifinals where she lost to Haskal in a third set tie-break (2-6, 6-2, and 7-10). Farmer and her doubles partner FitzMaurice also made it to the doubles semifinals after winning their first two matches of the tournamnent, but lost to the eventual champs Busani and Linquist.
FitzMarurice and Satrya each won their first two singles matches to make it to the quarterfinals, which earned them a spot in the state championship along with Haskal and Farmer.
The first two days (April 27-28) of matches at the state tournament will be held at various sites in Ventura. All matches on April 29 will be played at Ojai Athletic Club, and the final day of matches (April 30) will be held at Libbey Park in Ojai.
