STEALING THE PIRATE TREASURE

Fullerton hosted Orange Coast College on Wednesday and with strong second half stole the game from the Pirates 10-8.

FC is getting hot at the right time as the team has grown leaps and bounds since the beginning of the season. Previously ranked No. 5 in the state, Orange Coast defeated the Hornets 13-5 back on September 8th. Fullerton now sits in third place overall in the Orange Empire Conference right behind Riverside (5-0) and Saddleback (4-1). With the loss, OCC is now 2-3 in the conference.

Riding high on a five-game win streak, the Hornets brought out their best taking an early 3-0 lead on goals by Macayle FrancoMoncerath Maldonado, and Riley Jackson. By the end of the first quarter, FC held a 4-2 lead. 

Orange Coast came roaring back in the second quarter scoring four straight goals for a 6-4 advantage. FC's Moncerath Maldonado scored the only goal of the quarter as the team fell behind 6-5 by halftime.

The Hornets turned it on in the second half outscoring the Pirates 5-2 thanks to goals by Maldanoado, Kayla Arias, and Alexandra Haluska

Moncerath Maldonado led all scorers with 4 goals on the day. Riley Jackson was credited with 2 goals.

FC goalie Candace Tezak had a stellar game with 11 saves helping the team to another victory.

Up Next: The Hornets (13-8 overall, 3-2 OEC) will play in the Long Beach City College Tournament October 20-21.
