Cats open with a bang

The Saddleback women's water polo team opened the season with wins over Citrus College and Ventura College on Friday at the Orange Coast College Tournament in Costa Mesa.  The Bobcats outscored their two opponents 30-12 for the day.

Saddleback opened with a dominating win over Citrus, beating the Owls 16-4.  The Bobcats had a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back, pulling out to a 10-2 lead at the half.  Julia Reid led the team with three goals in the game while Aaliyah Burns recorded five steals. 

Saddleback then turned around and defeated Ventura College later in the afternoon, 14-8.  The two teams were close with Saddleback leading 8-6 early in the second half.  The Bobcats then went on a run, scoring five straight goals to run away with a win.  Katherine Butler led the team with five goals in the game.  Butler led the team with seven goals over the two games.

Saddleback is back in the water at Orange Coast on Saturday when they face Long Beach City College (10:10 AM) and Riverside City College (2:30 PM).
