Citrus Caps Off Sophomore Day Victorious

After dropping a heartbreaking 9-8 overtime loss to Cuesta College earlier in the day, Citrus College capped off the day with a 6-4 victory over LA Valley College to celebrate Sophomore Day.

The Owls sit at 13-14 on the year and 3-2 in Western State Conference, while the Cougars improve to 12-13 and 2-3 in conference and the Monarchs slip to 14-8 overall and 2-2 in WSC action.

Sierra Beltran led the Owls with four goals in the first game, while Elizabeth Walls, Delaney Latham, Sarah Jurado and Andrea Hayler also scored. Hayler also dished out three assists and Walls added two assists.

In the second game, Hayler scored twice, while Latham, Genesis Moradel, Beltran and Trinity Hulet also added goals for the Owls. Hulet finished with three assists.

Defensively, Isabella Romero had seven saves to help preserve the victory.

Citrus shifts its focus to postseason with the WSC Championship next week.
