Citrus College couldn't overcome a big second quarter from Ventura College in an 8-4 loss in the Western State Conference Tournament semifinals Friday.
The Owls drop to 13-15 on the year and will play in the third-place match tomorrow. The Pirates improve to 20-9 overall and will challenge for the tournament championship on Saturday.
Delaney Latham, Sierra Beltran, Trinity Hulet and Hannah Wu each scored for the Owls. Andrea Hayler had two assists in the game.
Citrus takes on Cuesta College on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. for third place.
