VALLEY GLEN - The Valley College Women's Water Polo team got a 9-7, Western State Conference win over Cuesta on Wednesday.
Despite the look of the close score, the Monarchs led the whole game, with Cuesta only tying the game at one point in the third quarter.
Clarisa Robles led the Monarchs, scoring five of the nine goals for the team. Zoey Francis had an outstanding game in goal, making 13 saves, including several one-on-one challenges from Cuesta.
Women's Water Polo will play at the Battle at the Beach this weekend - Long Beach City's 25th annual women's water polo tournament. The Monarchs will play two games on Friday and two on Saturday.
