Women’s Water Polo Split Day 1 at Battle at the Beach

The No. 6 women's water polo team split day one of the Battle at the Beach Tournament at the Vikings Aquatics Center. The Vikings took down Cuesta College 8-7 in game one, but then fell to Sierra College 7-4 in game two.

"We really improved on our offense as the day went on," said Assistant Coach Rachel Westphal. "We are getting back on defense and giving better effort each game."

Freshman attacker Olivia Slavens was the standout player for Long Beach as she tallied 9 out of 12 goals for the day.

Goalkeeper Danielle Sgontz netted nine saves in game one, while Avery Reyes saved eight in game two.

The Vikings will be back on Saturday, Oct. 21 for Day Two of the Battle of the Beach Tournament at LBCC at 8 a.m.
