Long Beach City College's dynasty in women's water polo kept going in 2023 as the Vikings extended both their South Coast Conference streak of championships to now eight and their SCC game-winning string to 73 at the SCC Championship Tournament held Nov. 3-4 at LBCC.

The Vikings outscored first-round opponent El Camino, 23-1, then scored an easy 19-3 triumph over Mt. San Antonio in the championship game.

Olivia Slavens scored five goals, and both Emily Molendyk and Katie Juarez added four goals each in the title win. Elizabeth Jung contributed two goals and two assists. Long Beach (18-10 overall) went 8-0 (6-0 in coasting to the SCC dual season title) and outscored conference opponents, 124-22, in seven games (one forfeit win).

"After coming off a really successful conference season, the team is really excited to get to play at Regionals," said defender Gabby Gillott.

At last year's SCC tourney, LBCC pounded three conference opponents by a combined 68-4 count. Long Beach hasn't lost a conference match back since 2015.

"I am really optimistic going into this weekend and I think the girls have worked really hard and we're excited for the opportunity to face San Diego Mesa College," said center Julia Miller

Long Beach is the #5 seed and the lone SCC team to advance to the Southern California Regional Championships Nov. 9-11 at Citrus College. They will face off against No. 12 San Diego Mesa at 12:45 p.m. The live stream can be found here
