On the first day of the Battle at the Beach Tournament, the Cerritos College women's water polo team dropped a pair of matches. The Falcons (5-11), who are serving as one of the three hosts of the tournament, will play two more games in their own pool on Saturday.

In their first game, Cerritos suffered an 18-3 setback at the hands of Saddleback College. The team found themselves trailing from the outset and could never get any offense generated. They scored two of their three goals in the fourth period after the outcome had already been decided. Freshman Camila Oliveira (Cerritos HS) scored two of the team's goals, with freshman goalkeeper Clairissa Nuno (Cerritos HS) posting eight saves in the match.

Against Citrus College, a 15-7 loss, the Falcons were locked in a tight 7-5 battle at halftime, with freshman Jewels Longoria-Morasky (La Serna HS) accounting for two of the team's goals. An earluy third period goal from Jubilee Gil (Paramount HS) made it a 7-6 match until the Owls responded with the period's final five goals. Six different players scored goals for Cerritos, including freshman Abigail Perez (Bell HS), who was seeing her first action of the year. Longoria-Morasky also added three steals and a pair of ejections drawn to her two goals, while Nuno turned away 12 shots.
