Owls Put Up Fight Against Vaqueros, Rustlers

Citrus College battled two teams at the Riverside City College Tournament Friday but came up just short in both. The Owls battled but dropped a 12-8 loss to Santa Barbara before falling 10-7 to Golden West College in the nightcap.

The Owls slip to 1-5 on the year with the defeats.

In the opener, Delaney Latham led the Owls with three goals and added two assists. Siera Beltran followed with two goals, while Citrus also saw goals from Elizabeth Walls, Trinity Hulet and Andrea Hayler, who also had four assists in the game.

After finding itself trailing early, Citrus tried to rally late against Golden West but came up just short.

Hayler led the Owls with three goals and added two assists, while Charly Figueroa scored twice and Rachelle Herrera and Latham also rattled in goals.

Isabella Romero finished with 11 saves between the two games.

Citrus continues the RCC Tournament tomorrow, facing Orange Coast College at 10:20 a.m. and Saddleback College at 3 p.m.
