Owls Split First Day of Battle at the Beach

Citrus College dropped the first game at the Battle at the Beach 11-5 to Orange Coast College but bounced back with a 15-7 victory over Cerritos College.

The Owls sit at 12-10 on the year after seeing their nine-game winning streak come to an end.

Citrus was held in check in the first game offensively as the Pirates held the Owls to five goals. Sierra Beltran had two goals, while Delaney Latham, Charly Figueroa and Genesis Moradel also scored for the Owls.

In the second game, Citrus came out and set the tone early with three unanswered goals in the first 3.5 minutes of action.

Andrea Hayler led the Owls with four goals in the game, also adding one assist, grabbing seven steals, and drawing five ejections. Figueroa added three goals, while Latham, Xiana Cabral, Moradel and Trinity Hulet each rattled in two goals.

Isabella Romero finished with 10 saves in the cage to preserve the win for Citrus.

The Owls continue the Battle at the Beach on Saturday before returning home on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
