Cypress Loses First Conference Game to OCC

CYPRESS, CA -Cypress women's water polo (6-3, 0-1 OEC) were defeated by Orange Coast (5-0, 2-0 OEC) on Wednesday for the conference opener, 6-14. 

The Chargers first conference matchup began with a low scoring first quarter. Though Orange Coast broke the scoreless tie late into the first, the Chargers scored with 1:15 left. With seconds left, the Pirates regained their one goal lead, 1-2. 

Orange Coast College separated themselves for the rest of the match as the Pirates continued their successful scoring effort. The Cypress offense would not be able to keep pace with OCC as the Chargers dropped their first conference match of the season, 6-14. 

Brooke Shiohama, freshman utility player, netted two goals and finished the match with a steal. Karly Lepel scored a goal and also assisted Felicia Winslow on her early score. Goalkeeper Megan Lundquist ended the game with 11 saves and a steal. 

UP NEXT: Cypress will host Saddleback College on Wednesday, September 20th. The match will begin at 4pm from Cypress College.
