Delta's Gray gets nod for 2nd time as part of CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #11
San Joaquin Delta College outside hitter Hadlee Gray, Ventura OH Josephine Rausch, and Taft setter/right side Vienna Perier are CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #11.
Gray, a 6-1 freshman redshirt who transferred to Delta from San Francisco State, collected her second POTW after being selected also after Week #1. She scored a pair of doubles-doubles in the Mustangs two Big 8 Conference victories last week over Sacramento City and Cosumnes River.
Gray slammed 15 kills with 10 digs, two aces and two blocks v. the Panthers, then powered 19 kills, 16 digs, three aces and two blocks v. CRC. She hit at a proficient .415 percentage. Gray is one of two players in the state to reach 400 kills and she is second in kills per set at 4.93. Gray attended Elk Grove High.
Ventura's Rausch, a 6-1 sophomore from Tehachapi High, tallied 10 kills in a loss to LA Mission, then delivered 20 kills, served five aces, made 11 digs and had two blocks in a stirring performance to help the Pirates upset Santa Barbara City in four sets. It's the ninth time she reached a double-double in kills/digs and the third time she reached the 20-kills mark.
Perier, a 5-10 freshman from Stockdale High in Bakersfield, was a major performer in helping Taft become the first Central Valley Conference team to defeat Fresno City since 2011 (counted as a non-conference match due to two divisions) in a stunning sweep by the Cougars on Oct. 29. In that win, she scored eight kills, set 16 assists, made 10 digs, landed four aces, and made three blocks (two solos).
Perier added 20 assists, 10 digs, six kills, three aces and two blocks in a sweep over Reedley.
