Compton College announces addition of women's volleyball for 2021-22 athletics year
January 5, 2021
COMPTON - Compton College Athletics is excited to announce that it will be starting an intercollegiate women's volleyball team this fall.
"To get this program started has been a goal of ours for a while as we have received a lot of interest from our student body and students from surrounding high schools over the years." said Andree Pacheco, director of student development and athletics. "Even though athletics has been negatively affected by the pandemic, we feel this announcement comes at a great time as many high school volleyball seniors will be looking for a college program to compete in next year but may have limited options as all NCAA and CCCAA fall sport student-athletes are not being charged a season of competition this year.
"So offering a brand new program could be very appealing to many student-athletes and present them the opportunity to make an immediate impact and play. Lastly, a special thank you to our college administration for supporting this effort as we look forward to making this a competitive program."
The college looks to compete in the Fall 2021 season and will begin the search for a head coach.
The addition of women's volleyball, will bring the total number of teams at Compton College to 13, the most ever in school history.
Prospective students who are interested in joining the new women's volleyball team can complete the Prospective Student-Athlete Information Request Form.
