Bakersfield College women's volleyball head coach Carl Ferreira was named AVCA 2-Year College Southwest Region Coach of the Year after a 9-0 abbreviated 2021 season.

Ferreira's Renegades participated in a Central California Bubble league with five other colleges during the COVID-19 pandemic shortened season played back in March. Bakersfield won 27 of 29 games, including seven sweeps.

Another accolade for Bakersfield was the selection of middle blocker Alyson Dees as 2021 First Team AVCA All-American. Dees led the state in kills per set (4.03), hit percentage (.502), and blocks (1.14 set average). Dees is a 5-foot-10 performer from Tehachapi High.

Under Ferreira's leadership, Bakersfield is 55-5 in its last 3 seasons as one of the state's most consistent powers from the SoCal region.
