Irvine Valley keeps winning, holds on to No. 1 ranking; Pelle, Mackie named CCCWVCA Players of the Week

PASADENA - Irvine Valley extends its winning streak to 41 matches and continues its year-long stranglehold on No. 1 in this week's State Top 25 Rankings. Gavilan remains at No. 2 and NorCal #1, followed by Bakersfield at No. 3, Cabrillo at No. 4, and El Camino at No. 5. Hartnell, tied with Gavilan for the most wins in the state with 21 each, moves up to No. 6, Long Beach drops to No. 7, Fresno City climbs to No. 8, Sierra jumps into the top 10 at No. 9, and American River falls to No. 10.

PELLE, MACKIE NAMED CCCWVCA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
PASADENA - Strong offense and strong defense were the keys for Kapri Pelle of Sierra College and Faith Mackie, who were named the CCCWVCA Northern California and Southern California State Players of the Week, it was announced by the organization.
Pelle helped Sierra to a pair of Big 8 Conference sweeps over American River and Diablo Valley Colleges as she totaled 26 kills, 18 digs, 5 blocks and 3 aces. She pounded 17 kills against a high-ranked ARC team, hitting at a .424 clip.
Mackie was a defensive stalwart as she recorded 23 digs in Ventura’s upset victory over Moorpark and added 29 in a sweep over Glendale. She had a 3.0 pass rating in the Moorpark win. She is currently sixth in the state in digs average with a 5.61 mark.
