Marquez, Leilua received CCCWVCA Player of the Week honors

PASADENA - Nhean Marquez of Hartnell College and Phina Leilua from El Camino College have been named the California Community College Women's Volleyball Northern snd Southern California Players of the Week, it was announced on Monday.

Marquez helped Hartnell to four victories this past week, including a defensive show in a 5-set win over Folsom Lake. She totaled an impressive 39 digs. The libero averaged 5.5 digs in 13 sets and added five service aces.

Leilua played well in three matches against top-flight competition, including El Camino's wins over MiraCosta and Grossmont. She scored 23 kills and hit .455 in a 4-set triumph over MiraCosta and had 18 kills and 11 digs in a 5-set loss v. Canyons. Leilua totaled 50 kills, 28 digs and six blocks overall in the three contests.
