Mytnik and Smith earn 3CFCA Players of the Week honors
The duo led their respective squads to massive wins.
PASADENA, CA — Monterey Peninsula's Avery Mytnik and Bakersfield's Kadyn Smith have earned California Community College Fastpitch Coaches (3CFCA) Players of the Week honors.
Pitcher of the Week Mytnik led the Lobos to their biggest win of the season with a stellar performance in the circle to take down the top team in the state, Sierra College, 3-1. The ace pitched seven innings in the win, striking out three batters while allowing just two hits and one earned run with no walks. Mytnik finished the week with a 0.81 ERA and five strikeouts.
She boasts a 0.44 ERA on the season with just two earned runs across 31.2 innings for the No. 5 Lobos.
Kadyn Smith was a force at the plate, leading the No. 8 Renegades to a perfect 4-0 week to earn Player of the Week recognition. The designated player left the yard four times including a game-tying solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning versus previously undefeated and No. 10 Fullerton College. She drew a walk the following inning and scored the go-ahead run in the 3-1 win. She ended the game against LA Mission in the bottom of the fifth with she hit a three-run homer to seal an 8-0 win. Smith totaled six RBIs in a 12-5 win at Antelope Valley with a pair of home runs and a double.
Smith finished the week with 11 RBIs, nine hits, eight runs, and two doubles with a .692 batting average.
