Cypress dominates in win over San Jose City
The Chargers won 10-0 to advance to day three of the CCCAA Tournament.
BAKERSFIELD - The Southern California #2 seed Cypress College Chargers scored early and often on their way to a 10-0 five-inning win over Northern California's #4 seed San Jose City College Friday night at Bakersfield College.
Cypress advances and will face the #3 seed from Southern California, Santa Ana College, tomorrow at 3 p.m. All remaining games of the tournament will be played at Bakersfield College. San Jose ends their season with a final record of 37-7.
Emily Rush added the highlight of the game in the top of the third inning when she hit an absolute bomb over the left-field fence. The no-doubter, three-run blast brought in Cameron Curiel and Sophie Little and extended Cypress' lead to 7-0.
Rush had an outstanding all-around game. She finished her night offensively with five RBIs, two hits including a double, and two runs scored. In the circle, Rush pitched four and two-thirds innings, struck out two batters, and gave up just two hits to improve her record to 27-9.

The Chargers jumped on the Jaguars in the second inning scoring four runs off five hits to gain the initial advantage. Huerta added the final run of the inning with an RBI single that plated Eliza Sandoval.
Jordan Thompson and Sandoval both finished with two hits, one RBI, and one run. Cypress finished the game with 13 hits.
Cypress capped off their offensive output in the fourth inning when Camryn Addimando singled to left field to score Paige Shafer. Later in the inning, Rush reach on a fielder's choice and brought in Sara Crespo and Addimando to extend the Charger's lead to 10-0.
