Sierra rallies in the 7th to beat Santiago Canyon
The Wolverines scored four runs in the seventh to beat the Hawks 11-7.
BAKERSFIELD - The Sierra College Wolverines' offense got going late, scoring seven runs across the final two innings to beat Santiago Canyon 11-7.
The Nothern California #3 seed Wolverines advance and will face Southern California #3 seed Santa Ana later today at 5 p.m. at Bakersfield College. The Santiago Canyon Hawks end their season with a record of 33-14.
Jada Bolar led the Wolverines in the win amassing an incredible six RBIs in the win. She made her final at-bat of the game her most impactful. With the game tied 7-7 in the top of the seventh, two outs. and the bases loaded, Bolar tripled to left field and cleared the bases to put Sierra up for good. Emily Walker stepped up next and singled in Bolar to extend the lead to 11-7. Bolar did her part in the circle as well pitching four and two-thirds innings of relief to improve her record to 12-4.
Trailing 7-4 entering the sixth inning, Sierra caught fire, rallying off three hits highlighted by an RBI single from Walker to tie the game 7-7. Meadow Topete got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly that plated Eliana Enriquez and Bolar added a ground out RBI that scored Darcy Gillan.
Bolar gave the Wolverines their first lead of the game with an RBI double in the third that scored a pair of runners. Walker did her part in the win finishing with a pair of RBIs and two hits.
Alyssa Yslas did her part to keep the Hawks alive going 3-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Riley Piattoni and Jazmyn Moetului each finished with a pair of hits.
After Sierra took the initial 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning, the Hawks responded with four hits and capitalized off three errors to take a 4-3 lead. Three straight singles by Adriana Martinez, Yslas, and Riley Piattoni gave the Hawks the surge they needed to jump on top. The Hawks added two more runs in the fourth and the squad added a run apiece in the fifth to set up Sierra's comeback.
