3CFCA Pitcher and Player of the Week
GLENDORA - The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce the Week #3 Pitcher and Player of the Week. Jessell Lewis of San Jose City College and Kiki Hicks of Barstow College earned this week’s acknowledgments.
Jessell Lewis - San Jose CIty College - Sophomore - RHP
San Jose City College sophomore right-handed pitcher Jessell Lewis was named the Week #3 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week after a fantastic week in the circle. Over the course of the week, Lewis threw three complete game shutouts, going 3-0. Lewis had 17 strikeouts in 19 innings of work, and contributed at the plate, hitting .428. In the Jaguars’ 4-0 win over visiting Folsom Lake College, Lewis got a clutch hit with the bases loaded and two outs, when she roped a double to center that plated a pair and gave San Jose the lead. Lewis prepped at Silver Creek High School in San Jose.
Kiyaira “Kiki” Hicks - Barstow College - Freshman - Centerfield
Viking freshman Kiki Hicks is the 3CFCA Player of the Week. Hicks earned the honors thanks to her hot bat in helping lead Barstow College to a perfect 5-0 week. Over the course of those five games, Hicks was 12-for-16 (.750 average), scoring 15 runs, driving in seven more. Of her 12 hits, three went for extra pases and she hit a home run and a pair of doubles. Hicks also stole seven bases for good measure. Arguably her best game of the stretch, came in the first game of a double-header with Taft College. In that contest, Hicks went 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBIs, a home run, and two stolen bases. Hicks prepped at Adelanto High School in Adelanto, CA.
