CYPRESS — Cypress College Men's Water Polo standout Wes Brazda has been selected to the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team, a national honor recognizing student-athletes who set an example for future generations by demonstrating leadership in their sport while making a lasting impact in their communities.
Brazda is the only California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) and community college student-athlete in the nation to receive this year's honor, standing out among NCAA Division I, II, and III representatives across the country.
Across 25 games last season, he made 10 starts and recorded 72 goals, 31 assists, and 29 steals, finishing ranked among the top five in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) in goals scored. His exceptional performance earned him First-Team All-Conference honors as well as recognition as a Charger of the Week recipient.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Brazda has distinguished himself through his commitment to service. He volunteers as a coach with the Cypress Water Polo Club, working with athletes ages 14–19. In this role, Brazda not only teaches the technical aspects of the game but also serves as a mentor, helping young athletes pursue their goals of competing at the collegiate level.
In addition to his coaching contributions, Brazda is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with aspirations of becoming a firefighter. His pursuit of public service reflects his dedication to supporting others both in sport and in life.
Balancing his athletic and service commitments, Brazda maintains a 3.37 GPA, showcasing the discipline, resilience, and leadership that define him as both a student-athlete and a future professional.
As part of this recognition, award title sponsor Allstate will provide each Good Works Team honoree with an NIL deal. The compensation is intended not only to honor their achievements but also to amplify their dedication to service by helping them expand their impact within their communities.
"Cypress College and the Athletics Department is incredibly proud of Wes for being recognized on the Allstate Good Works Team. This honor goes well beyond Wes' athletic achievements and celebrates his leadership, character, and service to others. Wes embodies the values of Chargers Athletics. This recognition is a reflection of the positive impact our student-athletes have on our campus and in the community," said Wes McCurtis, Athletic Director and Associate Dean of Kinesiology.
The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is one of the most prestigious national honors in collegiate athletics, recognizing student-athletes whose impact reaches far beyond competition. With this recognition, Brazda joins a distinguished group of athletes across the nation who are shaping the future through leadership and service.
