No. 6 West Valley rallies for 11-9 win over American River; Heads to Coast Conference Championships

SARATOGA - The sixth-ranked West Valley men's water polo team closed out the final day of the regular season, and exacted a bit of revenge, with an 11-9 win over visiting American River on Friday.
The 2018 Moe Invitational pitted the Vikings (17-5, 5-0 Coast), the regular season Coast Conference champions, against the Big 8 champion Beavers (15-6-1, 5-1 Big 8), who handed West Valley its only NorCal defeat of 2018 (15-14 on 9/22 at Bakersfield). The Beavers led 7-6 after three periods and the teams were tied 9-9 with two minutes left.
Goals from Xavier Dominog at 1:37 and Enrico De Munno with just 37 seconds remaining clinched the win for WVC. De Munno paced the Viking stat sheet with five goals, while Domingo and Xander Bonnet netted three and two scores, respectively. Dylan Woodhouse picked up the win in the cage.
The Vikings defeated San Joaquin Delta 12-1 in the Moe nitecap. West Valley now heads to the Coast Conference championship tourney Nov. 2-3 at De Anza.
