College of the Sequoias tabs Eric Marty as assistant football coach and faculty member
VISALIA – College of the Sequoias has announced the hiring of Eric Marty as the new Assistant Football Coach and full-time Physical Education faculty member. Coach Marty brings coaching experience, a proven track record, and a commitment to athlete development and academic excellence.
Marty, a former collegiate quarterback, has excelled as a coach at both the collegiate and professional levels. Most recently, he served as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football league (USFL), where his offense ranked #2 in the league in 2022. Under his leadership, the Panthers led the league in passing while also ranking third in rushing.
In addition to his professional experience, Marty has an extensive collegiate coaching resume. Most notably as the Head Coach at Reedley College from 2016 to 2020 where he took Reedley College from a one-win team in 2016, to back to back 10-1 seasons in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Marty earned Golden Coast Conference Coach of the year in 2018 and 2019 while also earning Nor-Cal Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2019. After Reedley College, Marty served as the Offensive Coordinator at Division One Grambling State in Louisiana before embarking on his professional football coaching stints.

Athletic Director Brent Davis expressed his excitement about the hire, stating, "Eric Marty is an incredible addition to our team and he will be a great addition to Coach Mendonca's staff. His experience and passion make him a perfect fit for our department. I have no doubt he will elevate our football program and contribute to our student-athletes' success both on the field and in the classroom."
COS Head Football Coach Matt Mendonca added, "I had the privilege of coaching alongside Eric during our tenure at Reedley College where I served as the defensive coordinator. Coach Marty's offensive expertise, leadership, and dedication to his players are unparalleled. I'm thrilled to work with him again and can't wait to see the impact he'll make here at COS."
Marty holds two master's degrees and will be teaching courses at COS in addition to his coaching duties. He is known for his innovative offensive strategies, leadership, and commitment to developing student-athletes.
