TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino Warriors beach volleyball team hosted their first match of the season on Wednesday, hosting the Cypress College Chargers. The Warriors swept the Chargers, 5-0.
Coach Le Valley Pattison commented, "All of the players were anxious, nervous, excited and ready. They have put in a lot of time on the sand and were ready to see what they could do against another school. I thought it was a good first outing. We have a lot of work to do adjusting and learning the beach game."
Only one team - Victoria Curtice and Megan Lim - was stretched beyond two sets but the duo came back to win the decisive third game, 15-8, over Rochelle Cohlson and Paulina Akino of Cypress.
In other CCCAA action on Wednesday, NCAA Div. II Concordia (Irvine) blanked both San Diego Mesa and Saddleback, 5-0, in matches played at Irvine Valley College. San Diego Mesa picked up a win, though, beating Saddleback, 4-1.
