Oxnard College Men’s Soccer Stays Undefeated with a 2-0 Win Over Taft College

The Oxnard College Men's Soccer Team extended its undefeated streak to seven games with a 2-0 victory over Taft College on Friday, improving their record to 6-0-1. The game, held in the Nest, saw Oxnard pull away late with two goals in the final three minutes, sealing a hard-fought win over a resilient Taft team.

After a scoreless first half, the match came to life in the final moments. In the 88th minute, midfielder Ernesto Rodriguez broke the deadlock, scoring the game's opening goal off an assist from Raymond Miranda (https://www.instagram.com/p/DAcUh9uv2I5/), putting Oxnard up 1-0. Just two minutes later, Miranda doubled the lead with an unassisted goal, securing the 2-0 victory.

Oxnard's defense played hard throughout the match, anchored by goalkeeper Adrian Contreras, who recorded 12 saves to keep Taft off the scoreboard. Despite intense pressure from Taft, Oxnard held firm, allowing only 14 shots, with none finding the back of the net.

The game saw its share of drama early on with red cards for both teams, leaving both teams to battle it out with 10 players for most of the match.

Oxnard's offensive efforts were balanced, with 11 shots in total, four of which were on target. The victory keeps should keep OC at the top of the CCCSCIA rankings at #5, and they are now focused on maintaining their unbeaten run as they head deeper into the season as host another tough opponent in San Bernardino next Tuesday.
