Agustin Osegueda did his best to give Oxnard (3-3) a three-game sweep over cross-county rival Ventura College (1-5), but it was not to be.

VC came back from a 2-1 deficit, in the bottom of the ninth inning, to claim their first conference win on the season.

Osegueda went nine innings, allowed two earned runs, on nine hits by the Pirates.

"Auggie pitched well and played a good defensive game.  We just needed to capitalize on some opportunities earlier in the game," said head coach, Steve Hernandez.

Raul Sandoval was two for four, with a run scored.  Trevor Hammond was two for three, and Taylor Tractenberg added an RBI for the Condors.

Hernandez has the Condors playing solid baseball after six games into WSC play.  After dropping two out of three to SBCC, the condors beat VC 10-9, and then again in Oxnard, 1-0.

Charlie Montano went 10 innings, gave up no runs, and struck out seven Pirates to claim the 1-0 win on Thursday.

Oxnard starts a new series at Allan Hancock College on Tuesday.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 in Santa Maria.
