Bobcats get revenge on Comets

The Saddleback baseball team improved to 11-2 with a 7-6 win against Palomar College on Tuesday at Doug Fritz Field.  It was sweet revenge for the Bobcats after dropping a game to the Comets earlier in the season.

Saddleback started ace Connor Wilford on the mound and jumped out to a big lead before hanging on for a win.  Wilford (4-1) pitched through the sixth inning, exiting with a 7-2 lead.  The righty from San Clemente struck out six through six innings, allowing one earned-run before being pulled after 91 pitches.

Saddleback built up a big lead on the strength of seven runs over the first four innings.  The Bobcats scored one run in the second inning and three more times in both the third and four innings.  Jordan Dissin singled home both Johnathan Behm and Danilo Tiotuico for a 3-0 lead in the bottom half of the third inning.  One batter later it was Luc Stuka doubling home Dissin for a 4-0 advantage.

Saddleback tacked on three more in the fourth inning.  The Bobcats had the first four runners reach base, with Dissin clearing the bases with a double to score Behm, Tiotuico and Jason Hefft.  Dissin was the big star on offense, finishing 3-for-5 with five RBI for the afternoon.

Palomar closed to within 7-6 in the seventh inning when the Bobcats had some issues in the field and the Palomar bats came alive.  Saddleback then turned to Joshua Meekins and Arthur Liu, who pitched the final 2.1 innings in shutting down the Comets.  Liu pitched a perfect ninth inning in picking up his second save of the season.

Saddleback improved to 11-2 with the win.  The Bobcats are scheduled to play at San Diego City College on Wednesday before returning home to play Southwestern College on Thursday.
