Bobcats settle for scoreless tie

The Saddleback women's soccer team finished in a 0-0 tie on Tuesday at Cypress College.  The Bobcats dominated from start to finish, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Saddleback was facing an undefeated Cypress team that came into the match at No. 2 in the state in power points.  The Bobcats were at No. 4 in the state, setting the stage for a great matchup.

Saddleback controlled the play throughout, but was unable to push a shot past Cypress keeper Jade Bernardo.  The Bobcats outshot Cypress 25-4 for the game, including a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Bernardo kept Cypress in the game in the opening half when Saddleback outshot the Chargers 15-1.  She had eight saves in the opening half, turning back Saddleback's leading scorer Maliyah Medley a number of times.  Bernardo would finish with 13 saves on the afternoon.

Saddleback also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Saddleback (7-0-1, 1-0-1) remained perfect on defense and has yet to allow a goal the entire season.  They face another team on Friday in Santiago Canyon, who had done the same entering today's action.  Saddleback and Santiago Canyon will start at 3:00 PM on Friday inside the Saddleback Stadium.  Both teams are ranked in the top-10 in the nation in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, with Santiago Canyon at No. 2 and Saddleback at No. 7.
