Cerro Coso Baseball is looking to shake off a tough start to the 2020 spring season as they set up to play host to the Southwestern CC Jaguars this weekend for a two game series. The Coyotes dropped a mid week game to AVC this past Wednesday, an occurance that hasn't happened for quite some time in the baseball program. Mitch Maxfield battled through the start on the mound and handed over a 4-4 tie after 4 complete innings, but the Coyotes experienced trouble through the bullpen leading to an elevated run total for AVC. Offensively the Coyotes were lead by Luis Reyes (2/3, 2 R), Zach Andersen (2/4 1 R, 1 RBI), Jovani Diaz (3/4, 1 R, 3 RBI), and Michael Doerr (3/4, 1 RBI). For the Mauraderes, the win moves them to 3-3, while the loss drops Coso to 1-4, the Coyotes will be looking for redemption as the two teams face each other next Tuesday.

For this weekend's series, the Coyotes and Jaguars are two programs with familiar history, as they have faced each other for many years during pre-conference match ups. Both programs enter the weekend with a mutual respect as they have traded wins and losses in these series. The Jaguars enter the series with a 4-2 record and are lead offensively by Adres Contreras (.500, 6 H, 3 RBI), Jake Borst (.364, 4 H), Iran Fuentes (.308, 4 H, 7 RBI), and Oscar Ramirez (.304, 7 H, 2 RBI).
