Falcons' comeback falls short; Sac City hangs on for 7-5 win

The FLC softball team hosted Sacramento City on a sun-drenched Tuesday afternoon at Falcon Diamond, but their late game rally fell just short as they lost to the Panthers, 7-5.  The Panthers built a lead of 7-1 by the fifth inning on a combination of solid hits and lucky dribblers & bloop hits.  The Falcons, meanwhile, were driving the ball with authority all over the field, but mostly right at Panther fielders.  Credit the Sac City coaching staff, who had their players positioned perfectly to defend the high-velocity pitches of Emily Deatheridge.  In the sixth inning, however, the Falcon bats came alive with six hits, highlighted by doubles by Haylee Regianto and Taylor Eby.  They also missed an opportunity when Sachi Reyes was thrown out at home on Reginato's double.  The Falcons added one more run in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally died there.  Reyes, Reginato, and Eby all collected two hits apiece to lead the Falcon offense.

The Falcons (8-6) will travel to Redding on Satiurday for a non-conference doubleheader at Shasta College (3-2).
